- Visits and presentations to schools and other youth groups in the area.
- Open days during the summer period.
- Signs erected at all entrance points to the beach over a range of eight miles, warning of the dangerous currents, gullies and tides.
- Volunteers maintain and repair the boathouse and all equipment.
- An area at the side of the boathouse has been grassed and wooden seats provided,for picnics and other recreational activities.
- At Christmas time we go around the streets of Askam and Ireleth as Santa Claus for all the children to see.
- Working with many companies including, the enviroment agency, by providing launch, escort and recovery services.
- Helping with First Aid at community events, also assisting with the Keswick to Barrow walk.
- We also enter Askam, Dalton, Barrow and Walney Carnivals
Sunday 30th August We held our annual national wedding dress day in conjunction with take a break magazine.We all got dressed up in bride and bridesmaid dresses and went on a pub crawl around Dalton and Askam including a sponcered walk from Dalton to Askam in the pouring rain we were all soaked but managed to raise nearly £500 and had loads of fun many thanks to all who took part and donated as well.

We held a Gala day and night on the 1st August 2009 at askam rugby club to celebrate 40yrs in the rescue service.We would like to thank all those who came on the day and those before who together helped us raise just under £1100. It was a great day enjoyed by many.

We had a coffee morning on the 21st feb 2009 and raised just under £600 many thanks to all who helped raise this amount. It want towards paying for our tractor to be repaired.
